Hospitality Management Certificate with Co-op
Our 32-week Hospitality Management Certificate with Co-op options is in collaboration with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). AHLEI is widely recognized as the pre-eminent leader in hospitality certification. The program is designed to prepare students for the fundamental management and operational skills needed in the hospitality industry within 32 weeks.
At Create Career College (CCC), we provide work placements for the Co-op semester. The 16-week Co-op semester is an excellent opportunity for students to apply their knowledge in the professional field. The Co-op option is especially beneficial to international students because the Co-op provides valuable Canadian work experience that will help students gain a competitive edge in the job market.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be job-ready for entry-level positions in the hospitality industry in Canada.
Program Length
Intake: Intermittent intake every 4 weeks (12 intakes per year)
Duration of the Program: In total 32 weeks (640 hours), 16 weeks (320 hours) Lecture + 16 weeks (320 hours) Co-op
Method of Delivery: In-person or Blended
Method of Instruction: Combination of Instructor-led lectures, supervised labs, guest speakers, case studies, presentations, online reading, and quiz participation. Online delivery will utilize Canvas (Learning Management System) to host lectures, assign homework, start discussions and monitor attendance with the built-in “Attendance” function.

English Admission Requirement
To enter the Hospitality Management Certificate program, applicants must meet 1 of the following English proficiency requirements:
- Completion of Create Career College (CCC)’s English as a Secondary Language (ESL) program. ESL is a prerequisite language program designed for international students who want to enrol in academic or vocational courses at Create Career College, or
- Obtain TOEFL iBT a minimum score of 60 or IELTS academic a minimum score of 4.5, or
- Successful completion of Grade 12 from a Canadian High School or equivalent, or
- Completion of an approved English test, successful assessment by Create Career College (CCC), or
- A score of 60% on the Create Career College English Placement Test.
Course List
The course provides students with an introduction to the business world as it applies to the hospitality industry. More specifically, it acquaints them with the social, economic and environmental context within which the hospitality industry operates. The course covers the structure, nature and operating characteristics of the different sectors of the hospitality industry, as well as the interaction of management with departments like marketing, finance and human resources.
This course details the flow of business through a hotel, starting from taking reservations to check-out and account settlement. The course also examines various elements of conducting effective front office management paying particular attention to the planning and evaluation of front office operations and to human resources management. Front office procedures and management are placed within the context of the overall operation of a hotel.
This course provides a thorough overview of housekeeping––from the big picture of planning and organization and the hiring and retention of staff to the technical details of cleaning each area of the hotel. Also featured are industry experts who will present real-life examples and practical information.
This course shows how every aspect of a food service operation contributes to a guest’s experience. The course includes an updated menu trend, responsible alcohol service, and material on leadership, service skills, and service styles.
